1930s Knitting Pattern for a Man’s Swimsuit Chest 36-38

Description

The costume is worked in stocking stitch in Black with a zig-zag flash across the chest in Scarlet, edged
with Royal and Green. The angle of the zig-zag is obtained by moving the colours over towards the right,
one stitch every row. There are cut-away spaces at the sides and a low strapped back. Double crochet is
worked round all spaces for strength.

The original yarn used was 7 ozs. (200g) Sirdar 4 ply Sunshine wool in Black, 1 oz. (29g) each of Scarlet
and Royal blue and Green. A pair of No.11 (3.0mm) needles, a No. 13 (2.25mm) crochet hook.

TENSION: 7.5 stitches and 10 rows to one inch.

The costume will fit a 36-38 inch Chest
